Basil & Pepper is an independent publishing house founded in 2026. We publish books for readers who want something from a book: dinner sorted for the week, an evening with a pencil and a good mystery, or a story that keeps them up past midnight.

Why the name

The two ingredients have nothing in common, and they belong together anyway. Our list works the same way. A high-protein cookbook, a murder mystery you solve by elimination and a dark college romance share a house because they share a standard: each one has to be clear, satisfying and worth its price.

How we work

Every author on our list writes for one kind of reader and stays with them. Series are planned as series, so the format, the quality and the voice hold from the first book to the latest. Recipes list macros and cost per serving. Puzzles are checked for a single fair answer and come with full solutions. Fiction is clearly labelled so readers know what they are opening.
